Windows 7 can be downloaded & used for up to 30 days prior to activation, if you answer the questions correctly, there's also a 90 day free trial of Windows 7 Enterprise available. This is just my personal advice, & nothing more, it's best for a new computer build to have a stable, released OS. This type of software, all components of it must work, or the computer isn't secure. It's also well documented that many 3rd party security choices (AV/IS suites) doesn't work properly with 8 RP, or only partially works, which may be worse than having it installed. Some, but not all, devices & software on today's market was built/developed long before Win 8 DP was in use, nearly a year ago. Because there's no guarantee that software/hardware sold today will be fully compatible with Win 8 RP, as well as the final Retail version. In addition to my post above, except for bare necessities, it's would be good practice to avoid buying anything other than what's needed for the computer to operate. This is an often overlooked issue on Win 8 RP installs, & a needed feature for backwards compatibility for Windows 7 & below devices/software to operate.

Make sure to allow for Windows Update to retrieve these files for installation. It's required for my webcam software on both my desktop & notebook to work. NET 2.0) turned on, it's at the top of this list (by default, it's not turned on). One last issue that comes to mind, & this is necessary for many things to work on Win 8 RP, type in "Turn Windows Features on or off" w/o the quotes (in the Control Panel).
